Dehydration of ethanol in the presence of conc. H2SO4

Ethanol can be dehydrated to give ethene and di ethyl ether by heating it with an excess of concentrated sulphuric acid at 170 and 140 Degree Celcius,respectivel y. The acid catalysts normally used in alcohol dehydration is concentrated sulphuric acid which results in alkene and ether.
